I found a paper which PCl5 combined HClSO3H for chlorosulfonation process. But I have PCl3, can I use it?

I think you can't use it. You know PCl5 consider as source of chlorinated ( electrophile ) to produce POCL3 as a side product . while this don't happen in case of PCl3. but if you want to try do it . this is a chemistry.

chlorosulfonation is a two step procedure in one-pot. First sulfonation and then replacement of sulfonyl-OH wiht Cl.
So even excess of HClSO3 also works (its a traditional method).. I didn't get access to the article.. but they have tried SOCl2, PCl3 and PCl5 and found PCl5 as best..

Yes. There are two step procedure. First, i used HClSO3 and then PCl3. I find a lot of crystal needle....and my product seems brown. I still evap on vaccum. Waiting for caracterization
