I don't know if you have checked this site already: http://jgibblda.sourceforge.net/ It's a Java implementation of LDA with Gibbs sampling and has fairly simple code that you can easily transfer to a language you want.

I was trying to understand hlda and I had some problems because another implementations are very different (e.g. the params number and representations)
