Dear Angela,

I would recommend you to do transverse brain sections of the relevant regions first and then you can do punctures of the nuclei that you are interested with. You can determine rostro-caudal extent of your sections using Watson-Paxinos Atlas. For details on how to prepare live brain sections see my methods chapter listed below.
