To do pulse plating with Autolab and NOVA, use the "chrono method" command, it allows you to define your pulses and what signal you want to sample.

Thank you a lot Thomas for your kindly response. I am trying the chronopotentiometric method (I=0.001 A.cm-2 and I=-0.004 A.cm-2 for positive and negative pulses respectively). When I sample the E vs t and I vs t plots, the patterns of these two plots aren't logic. It should be the same as a square pulse. In the I vs t plot, I have four points for the signal during the plating, two points in zero current and two points in negative current (-0.03A). As a result, this plot is like a parallel double line, with two overlaying line in zero current and two overlaying lines in the negative current! What is the probable cause of this plotting pattern? Should I change the signal sampler as you noticed? Wouldn’t it better to use the Chrono charge-discharge method with n repeats to apply pulses?

I don't understand what you mean! Could you give me a example of pulse you would like? And show me the graphs you obtain in your test : i vs t and E vs t. Maybe you don't have enough points to give you a good plot.

With the "chrono method" command, you can custom your pulses exactly as you want.

I wanted to apply galavostatic pulses as first attached file with quantities as bellows:

I= -0.004 mA/cm2, duration=2 sec and interval time= 0.5 sec

I=+0.001 mA/cm2, duration=2 sec and interval time=0.5 sec

I applied them in chronopotentiometric method in NOVA but in I vs t plot that I obtained, there are 4 points that they plotting I vs t by software as second attached file that I picture it manually.

I would really appreciate your technical comments about these issues.

Very strange. Do you have the .nox file? As you put an interval time of 0.5 s per step, you have 4 points for each step. Use the repeat command to repeat your steps and decrease the interval time to add more points on your plots.

I did a procedure based on your comments, a Pulsed plating during 30 s :

I repeat the following procedure 7 times :

• - 4 mA during 2 s, interval time 1 ms
• 1 mA during 2 s, interval time 1 ms

I finish with a step of 2 s without current. I sample current and potential and do the plot E vs t and i vs t. I didn't test it but it should be right. You will find the .nox file in the enclosure. You can adapt this procedure to put the "good" current (depending of the surface of your sample) and the number of repeat.
