I cannot promise anything. However, we need a little more information...
1) How do you want them? Living beetles will be too much trouble for regulatory reasons. I might be able to get dead ones -- or rather contact people who might encounter them in their normal work activities.
1a) How should they be preserved? 85% denatured ethanol ok? Depending on source it might be 75% isopropyl (unless I specifically state that it should be something else).
1b) how many do you want from each location (minimum, and ideal)? 1 or 2 individual beetles, or 10 grams.
1c) spatial distribution? If I can get beetles from 2 hives in the same apiary is that one sample or two? If I can get beetles from two hives that are in the same state (Ohio, USA) is that one sample or two (assuming that the hives are at least 5 miles distant from each other)? What if the hives move. They spend summers in Ohio, and winters near Florida?
2) Where should they be sent? People will write out exactly the address that you put.
it would be great if you could send me dead adult beetles in at least 75% EtOH (min. 10-20 adults from at least 2 apiaries). My address: Ouessou Idrissou, Institute of Bee Health, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern Schwarzenburgstrasse 16, CH-3003 Bern Switzerland
Thanks for your willingness to help me. I am working on SHB population genetics. I have already received samples from Australia. I would be happy to get samples from other countries (Jamaica, Cuba...etc).
