I stained gram positive and gram negative bacteria with india ink, crystal violet and safranin stains. I can show gram negative bacteria with white surrounding area but i couldn't see gram positive bacteria like this. Gram positive coccus could see white coccus but couldn't seen purple coccus with white surrounding area.
The cocci in chains are non-capsular while the bacilli appear to be capsular, better confirm with capsular staining. For the method, you can see the link.

I recommend Anthony staining or staining with Chinese ink. In both the Capsule can be visualized. In cocci you can use Streptococcus pneumoniae and in Bacilli Klebsiella pneumoniae. It does not matter if the microorganism is Gram positive or Gram negative with these stains the bacteria will look dark violet in the first and black in the second, because they are stains with a foundation other than Gram.
