Could anyone help identify this plant growing in Madhya Pradesh? It is an herbaceous sciophyte growing under trees like Madhuca indica. Flowers during July and have 4 florets in entire plant which gets detached easily.
It is incorrect to identify plants based on images. If one guess the identification the individual who posted this image should work it out based on clues and post the correct identification. MY suggestions to all post images for identification is that one should prepare a detailed description and try to identify to its nearest family/genus/species. One should make difference between a lay person and a taxonomist. For a lay person we may give identity but for a student of taxonomy we should not because the student should learn how to identify plants following taxonomic identification procedures. In this case student uses 'florets' and not flowers which is incorrect. The students should learn terminology properly. The field notes have been given well.
May be Ruellia patula Jacq. or Ruellia prostrata Poir., good quality images is needed for correct identification. Better to mach the taxonomic characteristics with relevant taxonomic literature.
