Figure2c (view the paper attached) shows zeta-potential of GO/Ni(NO3)2. Clearly, the dispersion is positively-charged and negatively-charged in acidic and basic medium, respectively. To the best of my knowledge, graphene oxide (GO) with a carboxylic group on its basal plane can be considered as polyelectrolyte. Therefore, charge screening is expected when salt is added. The author also claimed that an Ni ion decorated-GO is positively-charged (view the abstract). Could anyone explain how this is possible?
