You can use THF and acetonitrile also. Further the reductive amination can be carried out without using any solvent. Please analyze the attached file, it may be helpful.
I was going to say THF but Avtar said it already. If your H source is NaB(OAc)3H i would say AcCN should work as well. But if you are using NaCNBH3 I would use THF.
THF is commonly used. Acetonitrile is used on occasion. I've also heard of dioxane, isopropyl alcohol and dimethylacetamide being used for specific reactions.
Thank you all for your valuable answers. My intention is to recover the solvent which I used in the reaction but the suggested solvents are mostly water soluble(ACN, THF, Ethanol and TFE). Is it reasonable to distill the reaction mass ( contains reducing reagent along with product)after completion of reaction .
