Treatment of diseases arising from AMR has largely proved ineffective time and again. So shouldn't containment strategies be outlined to regulate spread of resistant genes?
Of course they should. And a lot of it is happening with the WHO global action plan on AMR and subsequent call for national action plans. But alas, progress is slow and we need to work both harder and smarter.
For example, Ghana launched their national action plan last year: https://www.reactgroup.org/news-and-views/news-and-opinions/year-2018/ghana-national-action-plan-on-amr-react-africa-supports-the-process/.
