Sure, a would-be "brain" that is too simple cannot do the job, but the same thing is also true for most everything else you're interested in! That doesn't make complexity the source of consciousness.
Hi Karl Sipfle Well complexity may or may not be the cause (or at least a cause) of consciousness. It is of course possible that complexity might not be a player, like for example, in panpsychism.
But suggesting that complexity may not play a role in consciousness totally differs from confidently saying that "Consciousness Has Nothing to Do with Complexity", i.e., complexity definitely doesn't play a role.
So I guess your question title "Consciousness Has Nothing to Do with Complexity" doesn't match your question body being "Sure, a would-be "brain" that is too simple cannot do the job, but the same thing is also true for most everything else you're interested in! That doesn't make complexity the source of consciousness."
The question body is logical and without any problem. But the title is totally rejecting the idea of complexity, as if you have strong evidence against it (which is not what the question body is about).
If I were you, I would change the question to something like this: "Does complexity cause consciousness?" or something like it.
For consciousness I have already express my views some years back wherein Our conscious mind accept both positive & negative element of our life .In this case it is not possible for emotion without conscious .It is thru our conscious mind all the positive & negative direction of our life working to carry out our action of our life.
