According to social cognition theory, we have cognitive schemas (schemata). In political psychology and media studies we have frames. In the philosophy of science we have paradigms. In cultural studies we have social scripts. I think these concepts are related. People interpret things with certain schemas as frame of reference. Anything that doesn't fit into the familiar schemas are poorly understood. People interpret the behavior of others, and their own behavior too, in terms of familiar scripts, and behave accordingly. It is very difficult for people to behave outside the known scripts or understand others who do. People tend to interpret foreign cultures with their own culture as frame of reference or norm. This is called ethnocentrism. The same applies to science. Scientists who are trained in a particular paradigm have difficulties understanding theories in a new and competing paradigm.

I think all these phenomena are related and all have to do with cognitive processing. But I can't find any literature that link all these concepts together. Can anybody recommend some good literature that links these concepts together?
