I see in today's news paper that the University of Baghdad is now ranked in the top 1 250 academic centres in the world which is an excellent achievement after so many years of horror and disruption in the country. Please accept my congratulations!

The University has also been praised for building quality international academic partnerships. And I see a nice photo of recent graduates throwing their caps in the air next to the "Save Iraqi Culture" monument. Very good.

Despite political and religious disagreements, I do hope other Universities in the region take what Baghdad has achieved as an indicator of what's possible!
