Dear Researchers,

What is the exact law/norm pertaining to data shared in conference abstracts in short (or incomplete) and using the more elaborated/enhanced data for a full paper. I have difficulty in understanding how an oral presentation and abstract in a conference can handicap the future publication of a full article.. After all, a full article has strong merit and is assessed by rigorous peer review where as a conference abstract may not got through the same review chain. I would be grateful, if a senior researcher can shed some light on how conference abstracts preclude the publication of full articles in mainstream journals.

Thank you.
