Hi, I am just curious to know if someone has prepared wild mushrooms posters targeted for the local communities?. In my home country, NEPAL, mushrooms poisoning is very serious problem and to overcome such tragedies in some extent, I would like to bring out / disseminate some posters with locally available species. It would be nice to see some posters, learn about your experiences and to have an idea how to make a good and people-centered posters of wild fungi.

Our recommendation has been. Dont eat any mushroom fungus not bought in a store. Even the experts make mistakes, often with fatal consequences. Not worth it for the minimal nutritive value. That's our opinion after forty years of treating mycotoxicosis.
Bhutan's national mushroom center produced a poster with maybe 50 species, but it just shows am inage of a mushroom and scientific and dzongka name. I could email you a pdf of that.

Gary, you sound like the guy in the car repair shop who tells you never to drive a car again , since he has fixed crashed cars for decades. Just there is no one that would say such a foolish thing. I have been eating wild mushrooms for over 50 years and teaching thousands of people how to do it safely. But of course you do not need to do so, but to question their nutritional value just shows ignorance. Dried mushrooms are comparable in their protein content to dried meet. They are loaded with vitamins and minerals. However, I am very glad you are helping people who forage irresponsible. Keep up the good work!
I know, I love mushrooms! I am not going to comment here on the hypothetical mechanic who repairs "totalled" cars. We unfortunately see many die each year, often they tell me the same thing before they can get a liver transplant. We have seen fatal cases where the world great mycologists could not even be sure of the species, let alone the amateurs who had eaten them. I often tell the true story of my m-in-l who often picked and ate wild mushrooms, one day she was serving them to my family, people wouldn't eat them because they were wild. One plate was set on the floor. Later the cat dies. But, even this did not stop her from eating wild mushrooms, so she said, but I noticed all the mushrooms I ate were commercially grown. Besides, the commercial growers need to make a living too. Be careful!
