I was wondering if anyone has carried out research in comparing the benefits of TUIs against Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality in terms of pedagogic or usability experience?

I originate this question from the point that TUIs should provide the largest set of affordances since the user will be interacting (manipulating) directly with the tools, instead of AR (markers) or VR (controllers) that still place a (cognitive) layer in between the user and the digital tool.

Thoughts and ideas welcome as well!
