LHV Beech = 13.2 MJ/kg

LHV Birch = 14.4

LHV Oak = 13.7

LHV Pine = 14.4

LHV Poplar = 13.7

LHV Spruce = 14.7

Associated carbon dioxide production = 83.83 gm CO2/MJ

LHV straw = 13.4 MJ/kg

Average LHV wood pellets = 16.9 MJ/kg

The numbers will be influenced if the materials are wet and/or have unusual ash content.

Straw contains much higher ash, including much higher potassium, silica, and chlorine, compared to heart wood or even most other wood. One very widely cited source is Fuel Processing Technology 54 1998 17–46 (Combustion Properties of Biomass).
