We produce LDPE using a tubular reactor. The normal production conditions are at a pressure of 2700 and a peak temperature of 300.
For a while, the color of our product has become a bit darker without any particular cause. It is almost normal with a drop in pressure from 2,700 to 2,500 colors.
Can anyone help us?
Are you also increasing temperature (hitting the peak more often). Higher temperatures could cause additional undesired reactions that form color bodies. Another possible explanation isthat your catalyst has been filtering out color bodies and it isapprocaching max capacity for these compounds and can no longer filter them out.

In fact, we have even reduced peak temperatures to control the density. Can you explain more about the catalyst? Was there such an experience?
Yes at end of run in commerial units color bodies will sometimes occur one explanation is that a very small amount of "colorful" byprouct is continuously made but it stays on the catalyst and slowly accumulates. If this occurs too often the catalyst will no longer be able to adsorb/retain all of the contaminant and they will be released into the product stream. Some compounds are colorful enouugh that the can be seen at very low concentrations.
