This is a very good question dear Dr. Catia Cillóniz. Thanks a lot.
To be honest, most of the research works that have been published in respected scientific journals have not been an individual act but by the collaboration of my co-authors as well as a lot of ideas and scientific publications that have been published on the RG-platform by my RG-colleagues.
RG provides great platform for collaborative research work but I think invitations regarding congress, conferences sharing with one another is very limited on RG.
I am yet to seek or accept collaboration from RG colleagues due to my busy schedule and works at hand but to but candid colleagues here have helped my work. I could remember I asked two questions related to corrosion which RG colleagues helped in my newly published article.
Through RG I collaborated with researchers around the globe in writing a 3-volume set book in Phytochemistry, published by AAP of Taylor and Francis Group, to be released in February, 2019.
Our group here is also working on numerous other projects...
So far,I've found RG to be very useful in keeping in touch with others in my own fields,as well as providing a fast route to studies and outcome data.
As far as collaboarative work and conferences, perhaps less useful, but it remains a useful platform on which to place conference updates and information.
