Coagulation mechanism of chitosan/starch gel in NaOH/Na2SO4 solution ?

The coagulation occurred by the neutralization of the protonated amino groups present in the chitosan chains,

Dear Colleague

usually chitosan is only soluble in acidic solution and your solution is basic. In addition starch (neutral molecule) will be insert inside the helicoidal molecule of chitosane. I think but I do not know that basic solution will favorize the contact between starch and chitosane. The complex of the two molecules will not change the effect of pH thus the compex will precipitate .
