I'm looking at small-scale fishers who can harvest species from a range of invertebrate and finfish fisheries. When fishers can easily shift effort from one fishery to another, this links the fate of fisheries through the fishers. For example, a moratorium on one fishery will likely spur increased harvest rates on other fisheries that the fishers have access to. Thus there is a dependence among fisheries. What is this called in fisheries parlance, and does anyone have suggestions for key literature or good examples for small-scale fisheries? [this is not just "serial exploitation"]
