I am trying to perform Co chemisorption in my catalysts with Pt, but the results are very strange, I only get low values. I had measured using pulses.
My loop is 5ul, I don't know if it is so big, that could explain the low dispersion.
So, I would like to get some information about loop volumes and their results. For example, for 1%Pt/Carbon (commercial one) I get 25% of dispersion.
Dispersion of metal catalysts strongly depends on the preparation procedure. For supported noble metal catalysts it can also depend on the nature of the support. Back in 1978 the existence of strong metal-support interactions (SMSI) between noble metals and semiconducting metal oxides (e. g., TiO2) was reported and the subject deeply discussed and investigated for several years.
If with your loop you measure a reasonable adsorption level for the commercial catalyst, I guess the problem might not be in the experimental procedure, but ib the precise nature of your catalyst.
Summarizing: if you are using TiO2 check the literature about SMSI; if not, try to prepare your samples following another procedure.
