I have observed the tremendous rise in humidity since the 1970's. The phenomenon of "elevated fog" which is "clouds" hanging low but not part of the normal clouds and therefore not on the weather report has been around for the last 4-5 years only, but not before.
It was funny during my geography class we had a lot of dust from distant forest fires and we ended up with rain, although the weather report was "clear skies". Obviously, the dust plus the high humidity at the time led to condensation and rain, lots of rain which was not forecasted. Everyone was amazed!
