I want to investigate the impacts of environmental factors (unsafe drinking water, open sewerage, vector born diseases, etc) on the health status of people living in informal settlements. I am not a doctor, have not the funds to initiate medical examination / tests, see ethical challenges, etc. Are there ways to still get fairly good information on the health status of the people. I tried self-reporting (asking them about their health challenges), but not sure, if this worked; it seems people are 'under-reporting', but this might be that they have different ideas, what a disease worth reporting is.....
