I am running a reaction catalyzed by Pd triphenylphosphine complex, which I separate later by reverse-phase semipreparative HPLC.

I have a strong feeling that the product I am making is partly reversibly bound to some kind of lipophilic Pd species (molecule contains a lot of nitrogens and an alkyne). I conclude it from the fact that the product elutes substantially later and as a broad peak, as compared to the pure material from a prep column, even though after the purification it matches the reference.

The RP HPLC of palladium-containing mixtures is used quite widely e.g. in radiochemistry. I wonder if there is a standard method of "quenching" the reaction mixtures that would cleave all the Pd ligation. E.g. adding a small amount of strongly binding ligand that would bind all the palladium?

Just to clarify: I am NOT asking about methods of protecting the column from Pd deposition such as pre-columns etc, that is another major issue.
