It is time for Institutions of learning to focus on paradigm shift by giving the best education to students and creating an ultimate passion for learning among scholars.
To create a culture of excellence, i think it is crucial that all players such as teachers and students take ownership and responsibility of their roles. Further, the school leader should be able to get everyone to work collaboratively for the realisation of the common vision and mission.
If we help ALL the students in a class, then we could start achieving excellence by joint effort of teachers plus students.
Some slow-goers or apparently disrupting students can turn into major contributors if approached in a positive way. Otherwise, disruptors tend to drag the whole class down with no hope of excellence.
To give culture of classroom excellence, the following should be provided with all kinds of facilities like blackboard with duster, air conditioned room, very well ventilated, podium, audio, speaker and micro phone facility, individual computers with internet facility, open system education, smart board facility, in between screens, PPT and online presentations, video conferencing etc.
It all starts with finding the real motivation for students to learn.
Filling the gap between academia and market place requirements, using technology in transferring knowledge, and getting closer to students on all human levels to understand their true feelings and needs.
What is necessary is a culture of excellence that permeates every classroom, department and school; a focus not on simply getting the best grade, but on getting the best education and creating a lifelong passion for learning.
