I have a iron sulfide phase to characterize which cannot be dried and is also affected by exposure to oxygen. I need to get at least the following information.
a.surface morphology, elemental composition and elemental ratios
c. particle size and surface area.
I know BET wont work for area analysis as I cannot dry the sample. Can SEM or TEM be done with suspensions?
Hello, I hope to help you at least partially.For particle size you can use the laser diffraction technology that works by circulating a dilute suspension trough a laser beam to determine particle size distribution. It also gives you an "Specific area" by the assumption that all of them are spherical and can be very different from BET.

I'm not sure why you don't want to dry the samples (you could put samples in an inert atmosphere oven, which can avoid oxidation). Anyway, you want to image 'wet' samples. Try cryo-SEM which may work.
