What certification options exist, which would be the most appropriate to certify small productions of poor families, do you have any experience. What is your opinion about certification companies, are they really an option for small scale producers?.
Be it big company or any small unit producing the organic foods, all have to undergo the same regulations. Organic means organic excluding corruption involved if any for getting the product approved....

In some countries of Latinoamerica exits agroecological certifications based on internal social controls. In some occasions this kind of certification is recognized by the public administration. In some cases it is not necessary because there is a strong linkage among agri-food network's actors.
Dear Juan Carlos Torrico, there are several certifications now all over the world and I think you can find more information from Google. However, I think you need to be careful in making your choice. You'll need (1) to make sure that farmers understand the approach so that they can adapt their own choice in the future based on market dynamics, (2) to select the certification that match well with your commodity, (3) to make sure farmers play together the agribusiness game as a well-informed cooperative, and (4) to be very practical in assessing the market connections. Many cerification agencies/ companies are there like Onecert Asia etc but for poor farmers it will be difficult, so if farmers society or growers society are formed and the farmers can do it in bulk and also the state agriculture department or Krishi Vigyan Kendras can act as facilitator between farmers and certifying agency.
We as a team of KVK, help in acquiring certification for small tea growers from a certification agency and presently the group/ farmers got national award and they are even exporting their produce.
I have my serious doubts concerning certification companies. I would much more prefer that Universities would get involved.
From my perspective, it is hard for the small-holder farmers or poor families to obtain the certification of organic agricultural products. Only the powerful and certified farmer association, administration or research institutes can organize or assist the small-holder farmers or poor families to acquire the certification.
I advise the farmer community associated to get that certification, but individuals.

There should be a clear policy on this certification process. If poor families could not afford the certification fee, then the government must establish mechanisms to help these poor families who produced organic products.
