Hi everyone!

I have a question regarding the compatibility of catechol-modified hydrogels, crosslinked by Fe 3+ ions for cell encapsulation. There are many papers in the literature that fabricated catechol- modified hydrogels via physical crosslinking using Fe3+ as tissue adhesives. But most of them have studied the cell viability by culturing them on the surface of scaffold and didnt study the viability of encapsulated cells.

Are these kind of hydrogels suitable for cell encapsulation or there might be any toxcity? ( the covalently- crosslinked catechol modofied hydrogels by NaIO4 have been shown to support high survivial of encapsulated cells.I want to know whether this chould be applicable for physically crosslinked ones or not)

Thanks.
