I am working on CFO estimation for low snr signals, actually i tried the different methods for cfo estimation. Which will consider the maximum value of CFO 0.5 only (for example Moose and Classen method as mentioned in MIMO OFDM Wireless Communication with Matlab).
If we consider the higher CFO at the low snr (with high noise) we're unable to recover the frequency offset incurred. Is there any algorithm which can extract the CFO component from low SNR.
Moose method is used for two consecutive identical symbols. Whereas in SRS we are considering only 1 symbol for processing.
We are working on the SRS signals which is placed at the last symbol of subframe. The srs values are placed in comb like structure alternatively.

Why don't you use the PSS signal? It has good correlation properties, which might help you estimate the CFO in low SNR cases.

As we are dealing with Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) for uplink. The SRS will get frequency offset. Is it possible to use the other PSS signal ? , which is used for slot synchronization in time domain. We are considering the case of doppler incurred frequency offset and to recover the SRS after estimation followed by frequency offset correction.

Yeah, actually i tried with other algorithms which are CP and Pilot based method. As in last symbol we are processing the number of subcarriers are limited when number of users are more. The CP based method is not preferable as we are dealing with specific symbol. The repetition is not there like DMRS which is repeating in subframe. I shortlisted the ESPRIT algorithm hope it will work for frequency estimation.

Hello, Felipe Augusto Pereira de Figueiredo The PSS signal we cant use for CFO estimation in uplink scenario. Presently we did it based on the DMRS signal but the estimation is ranging between +/-1000 Hz. We want to do it for +/- 2500 Hz in uplink scenario. If anyone suggest it will be helpful.

I'm not sure, but I think you can achieve a wider range, even with DMRS. Have you modeled the problem and simulated it for the theoretical range?

Yeah i modeled it by using DMRS, as it is present for the uplink scenario. When we consider the two DMRS symbols we can achieve the frequency offset estimation of +/- 1000 Hz.By considering one symbol we can achieve +/- 2000 Hz. This algorithm is working for low value of SNR upto -5 dB.
The CFO range is depend on the seperation between the symbol. As we dont have consecutive symbols as per 3GPP norms. Hence, we are not getting the frequency offset estimation above 2000 Hz.
So, we want to explore if there is any other scheme which will be useful for the wider frequency range upto +/- 3000 Hz. If anyone did it or have some suggestions please help.
