I am looking at nitrate adsorption using Ca(NO3)2.4H2O as the solid and plan to run samples on ion chromatography. I cannot get hold of the anhydrous form, can I still use this as standard?
You can't use any hydrate as a primary standard since you don't know with precision the actual hydration level. Is there a reason you want to use this salt? It is simplistic to make a primary nitrate standard from KNO3, which you can dry.
