This question refers to the understanding of a concept, i.e. how to realize 'data driven' simply?
As what I think, it's opposite of model driven. And we should start with data analysis and mining in the beginning of our research. And then find and explain something based on our data or experiments. Finally a more practical model may be proposed with comparison to existing literature.
In a word, data driven is like a kind of scientific research thought or basic pattern. For this concept or my idea, can you say something? Thank you very much !
When we treat “data” as an "engine", we may say "driven", then. It means that given inputs, the data engine will output results according to some rules that are able to select and extract knowledge from raw data. The rules are the data-driven method.
