One of the most complete reviews related with spray systems can be found in Chapter 8 of the MULTIPHASE FLOW HANDBOOK, authored by Udo Fritschig and edited by Professor Clayton T. Crowe, Editorial House is CRC, Taylor and Francis. From this very book you must read Chapter 13 related with numerical modeling of particles in multiphase flows. This chapter provides a deep insight in numerical modeling techniques.
Other source can be the famous book titled, BUBBLES, DROPS AND PARTICLES, by R. Clift et.al., Ed. Academic Press.

you may check the following papers autored by myself about mass and heat transfer between oil droplets and air. perhaps semi-empirical correlations are different but physical phenomena should be the same.
