Neural networks are used in pattern recognition and as basis for machine learning. Applications range from recognition of number plates in traffic control, prediction of energy consumption, social media analysis and targeted marketing/advertising as well as fraud detection to name just a few.

Neural network are used in the area of energy, let say I am focusing on this area, for example, for building and predicting energy (See references below)
