This fungus was isolated from the lesions in the picture. Lesions looked exactly like alternaria symptoms but it turns out no alternaria grew whatsoever.
Here is how the fungus looks under small magnification on the dissecting microscope and how the culture looks on a PDA plate.
It has small round conidia attached all around the hyphae, but it's not botrys-like so don't get it confused for botrytis.
Dear IB Check out Bipolaris and or Drechlera as possibles and get in M B Ellis the Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes. I would also suggest doing a DNA Blast.

hi Ioannis, i think this is another species of Botrytis blight diesease of potato... kindly check it under microscope if the sign is related to Botrytis sp... DNA blast is highly recommended...
It indeed seems to be creating some botrytis-like structures. DNA extraction will give more details. Joel, it doesn't look at all like Drechslera, Bipolaris, or Exserohilum.
I agree with Ioannis Baltzakis that definitively these spores are not Drechslera or Bipolaris.

I agree with Joy, you have isolated the conidial state of Peziza ostracodoma - Chromelosporium ollare, also commonly known as the peat fungus as it is very frequently found associated with peat subtrates.
Yes, from the available picture, it seems to be the conidal Peat Mould, Peziza ostracoderma (Chromelosporium fulvum Link) McGinty, Henneert & Korf, in Mycologia 52(2): 216,1975, GLH. 27 Sept. 2018.
