I too am interested in clinical decision support for dentistry. There's not been a lot of activity in this field since the 1990s and I am interested in developing it further, but have little spare time. I write software as well as being a dentist and so would like to contribute but am too busy with clinical work to get a proper project organised. One day it will happen! I am sure that Apple and Google will be bringing out all manner of health related IT software soon, but of course the algorithms will not be in the public domain, and then it will be to late for the rest of us to develop anything. Do you have more time, or students that can help?
you will find an interesting article about the subject at the attached link, but I believe the newly launched Dental Diagnostic System by Harvard School of Dental Medicine would be the new trend. They have what they called "mapping system" to the proposed treatment options and sequences for the most common diagnostic codes integrated within the system.
