After analysing my samples, I was able to detect alkanes bigger than C40 up to C60. Based on their estimated boiling point, I don't see how is it possible that I am detecting this type of peak, and thus find it difficult to discuss the reasoning behind it.

The instrument used was: GCMS-QP2010 Ultra, Shimadzu, Japan, with a column of silica Rtx-5ms, Restek, USA (length 30 m, 0.32 mm I.D., df = 0.25 μm) using Helium gas as a carrier.

Working conditions were as follows; the initial temperature at 90 C for 2 min., ramped to 320 C at 5 C per min., and held for 12 min. Samples were injected in split mode, with injector temperature at 300 C. MS transfer line temperature was 300 C, with electron energy of 70 V, the data sampling time was 4.5 - 60 min., and a scan time of 1 sec/scan.

Any help would be appreciated.
