The creativity of children has been discovered at the beginning of the XX century by Picasso, Klee, Kandinsky, Der Blaue Reiter, (...) and much later the Cobra movement.
Some children can become artists - But does the work of the artist as a child count as art?
Art historians will say - after critics have made up their mind.
children are artists in their own right maybe with a little less experience which in some cases is of added value. Maybe we should reflect on the common thought that children are considered less..able. ...proficient. ...experienced. Humans are born complete.
I agree with you. Only recently have children been given rights and are seen as individuals with potential. Just look at the Reggio Emilia approach and how it is expanding.
Is because in the western world less children are born and we treasure them ?
and then again - how to recognize the beauty that lies inside of us?
There are important aesthetic cultural differences - think of music for example, compare, North African with Central African music, Indian with Chinese, with Bali...etc.
If beauty only should be "inside of us" it would be universal, would it not?
