Can we use Fresnel lens in order to concentrate the solar energy on a point (instead of using a dish collector)? If so, is there any problem or limitation about using that?
Please consider that my question is just about solar thermal power Not photovoltaic panels

Sure U can use fresnel lens instead of dish concentrator with the collimated solar radiation less than the produced collimated solar radiation from dish concentrator which due to high reflectivity of the dish for solar spectrum in compare with the transimisivity of fresnel lens.
A Fresnel lens is generally a good option. It is both less cumbersome and more forgiving in terms of misalignment than a dish collector. Some disadvantages are that the light must pass through the lens, which always leads to some absorption, and the surface is quite sensitive to scratches (as are dish collector surfaces).
Today for reduction the cost, most of fresnel lens fabricated from polymer material, with long time of work in different climate conditions may be optically affected (optical degredation).
