change in stress is very much less when compared to initial stress in case of piles. so settlement is generally less.But with using the chart i am getting more settlements as that chart does not have the effect of innitial stress.
Settlement of pile comprises of (i) elastic settlement of pile materials, (ii) settlement of pile caused by the load at the pile tip and (iii) settlement of pile caused by the load transmitted along the pile shaft.
You may estimate the pile tip settlement as suggested by Meyerhoff (1976) and further modified by Bowles (2002) based on SPT as follows: S(mm)=qp/(2N55B), where N55 is the weighted SPT average in the influence zone that extends 2B and B above the tip and q is the tip stress in kPa, B is the pile dimension.
Note that estimation of pile settlement is not so simple as shallow foundation. If you have data other than SPT, there are several methods to estimate the pile settlement.
