Yes , we can use perlite in conventional agriculture , but it ha more utility in soilless culture where plants have to have some anchorage , while in conventional agriculture , soil exchange phenomenon is prominent . But, i feel , instead of adding perlite , lets add some organic inputs to improve both was, soil cation exchange capacity vis-a-vis nutrient reserve/stock as well as other biophysical soil environment.
