How can one use the electrochemical impedance plots to distinguish or describe the difference between the chemisorption or physisorption of an adsorbate on the metal surface?
Impedance spectroscopy is a interfacial technique, i.e., measures the dieletric properties of double layer between electrode and electrolyte. Adsorpotion is a process that can be seen in impedance spectra directly by an inductance loop (or negative impedance values like maganese corrosion mechanism) or indirectly by changing the Rct (like a corrosion inhibitor in a steel electrode). I really don't know if you can differentiate a chemsorption/physisorption only by impedance analysis because both spectra situations can occur.
