While doing a research, can we obtain data from multiple industries/sectors to ensure theoretical generalization? Do we have literature support for this?

I mean to ask, while conducting a study we do not want to target a specific sector like engineering or services sector rather we want to obtain data from multiple sectors/industries to suggest that that particular phenomenon under research exists in all working class irrespective of sector. I am calling this theoretical generalization.

Yes you can, and it is already called sampling theory.
It depends on the nature of your data which sampling method you should choose to estimate the parameters of your population.
You can make new theories based on this method with specific level of errors. However, you can't ever prove them as a fact using sampling theories.
Ok. Then collect data according to some suitable method may be stratified sampling to give proper weight to each sector and check the research question ( Hypothesis) you have in mind by employing appropriate test of hypothesis.
