My study is focused on analysing existing Stormwater drainage and redesigning it in my home city ( Kochi, Kerala,India). Flash floods due occur in the city with a good rain. So inorder to fastly remove water to the nearest lake, Can we install a pump inside the existing rectangular drains ? What are the possibilities to solve this issue?
Hello Madam, that is easy.
You can install the pump like the water pump powered by petrol. The design of the pump to use depends on the depth of suction, the distance to the lake and head loss. If you need some more help contact me through research gate.

My ideas generated by seeing this snap. I want this to be a solution for the crisis. There is a lake nearby the area . I want this pumping system to function during heavy system and drain out water asap to reduce the water logging in major roads. Please tell me the scope of this idea. Can I add this as a solution to my project?
I think this is just a drain, and what I see is the trap which is grated and this can work if you wnat to drain water from a plot to some other big drainage which is normally bigger than what I am seeing in the photo. The pipe is only 4" and cannot be big enough for installation of a pump.

How big is the rectangular drain?
If it is big you can analyze its adequacy to carry different amount of discharges during flooding.

The pipe depends on the volume. How much water is flowing in the rectangular channel? Normally we use petrol powered engine pump, here in Kenya it costs 400 dollars and the pipe to it is 40 mm in diameter.
