At the microelectronic level (for the crystal designer or amorphous semiconductor designer, that is) what you have suggested may be of some importance. 

But for the manufacturer and the user utility, a quantum level computation will have limited importance. There are some practical reasons for this:

As a performance parameter, the quantity which measures the dependence of the solar cell conversion efficiency on the wave length of the incident radiation is the external quantum efficiency EQE expressed as the ratio of the collected electron hole pairs to the number of incident photons at specific wavelength. It can be expressed as 

EQE= (Iph(LAMBDA)/q) /[P(labda) / Ep] where Iph(LAMBDA)is the photcurrent at certain wavelength lambda, q is the electronic charge, P(lambda) is the the power of the incident photon flux at a given wavelength and Ep is the photon energy which is related to wavelength b y Ep= hc/ lambda with c the speed of light in the free space.

According to your expression of the conversion efficiency for certain wavelength,

Ƞ lambda= (ECE q /Ep) Vocλ*FF= (ECE) (qVoc/Ep) (FF)

From this equation one sees that the spectral conversion efficiency as you want to define is proportional to the external quantum efficiency ECE. The remaining  factors are qVoc/Ep which is the the ratio of the useful energy qVoc to the  incident photo energy Ep and finally the fill factor due to ohmic and dark current losses.

According to this analysis it can make sense to define the spectral conversion efficiency as it gives insight on the loss sources of the incident solar radiation.

Appreciate your interest. My thoughts are:

1. Can we change/control the wavelength of sunlight that falls on PV module?

2. Can we generate same/similar wavelength light from artificial lighting sources as compared to natural sunlight?

If answer to (1) & (2) above is YES then Pin in efficiency equation can have wavelength representation. In my view, it will be an accurate simulation model for research at lab level.

The additional information related to the mentioned problem  is that the FF also depends upon wavelength and temperature via Voc. The simplified equation of FF introduced by Green (1982) is  FF=(ϑ0-ln⁡(ϑ0+0.72))/(ϑ0+1). Where, ϑ0=VOC/Vth, By using this we can calculate the wavelength and temperature dependency of FF.

However, the above equation was written for crystalline solar cell. so when we deal with thin film solar cell like CdTe, the above equation may not be useful directly. So if the esteem members have any information regrading this it will be very useful for our problem.
