I am working on TiO2-Ge composite target can I estimate its ablation threshold theoretically. Experimentally we can measure the threshold by recording the ionic current while irradiating the material under optimized conditions but theoratically I could not find any estimation for it. Can you please guide me in this matter? Please suggest me any reference (book or paper) which can help me. Is there any relationship of workfunction of material with the ablation threshold. I have found a paper which describes a relationship between the work function and the ablation threshold but for some materials ablation threshold numerical value is greater than the numerical value of the work function. Please suggest some proper way to identify/ estimate the ablation threshold and its dependence on the vacuum pressure. i.e either increasing/ decreasing the pressure ablation threshold is effected or not because as far as I know it effects the plume shape and its expansion region
