Electrodepositing Iridium or Ruthenium oxides onto electrospun nanofibers without carbonization or a substrate electrode can be challenging. This is because the nanofibers may not be sufficiently conductive to support the electrochemical reaction needed for deposition. One possible solution could be to coat the pretreated nanofibers with a more conductive polymer, such as polypyrrole or polyaniline, before exposing them to the electrolyte solution for metal oxide deposition. Another approach could be to use a conductive substrate, such as a conductive glass or a conductive mesh, to support the nanofibers during the electrochemical reaction. It may be necessary to optimize the conditions for deposition, including the composition of the electrolyte solution and the applied voltage, to achieve the desired deposition without the need for carbonization or a solid substrate.
