Is it possible to stop river water going waste to sea? Would there be any harm to us, to the sea animals, plants near the river-sea junction if fresh water is not allowed to reach the sea? would benefit humans if every drop of fresh water is utilised by us?. kindly educate me on this topic. but some doubt remains in my mind: the pathogenic microbes in fresh water and sewage are killed probably entirely by the salt water of the sea.regards

It is not easy to stop fresh water reaching seawater may be mitigated in some locations because it is a part of the hydrological cycle.

Store and save all freshwater means also storing and saving sediment, pollutants, etc. Many freshwater species could become imperiled by accomplishing this. Some localized storage to fulfill needs is to be expected. Dams can be built to store water and sediments, but dams are not permanent hydrologic features, they can fail, increasing flooding severity and other damages.
