Depends on whether you want to make(1) Cu nanoparticles only or (2)a nanostructured Cu thin film. (1) Take cupric nitrate solution made in distilled water. Use a reducing agent and do controlled reduction.
(2) Take a pure Cu wire/copper turnings/Cu powder. Put it on a W basket/Ta boat. Do thermal evaporation using a Rotary-Diffusion-pump-Belljar based vacuum system. It can also be made by sputtering.
Then you must protect the films from atmospheric contamination. Quickly do analysis by XRD optical transmission and microscopy. CSS

Another method:Synthesis of ultrafine copper nanoparticles in organic solvent was typically processed as follows. A certain amount of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP, MW = 55,000), acting as the capping molecule, was dissolved in ethylene glycol (EG) in a flask. Afterward, at room temperature, copper(II) sulfate (1.5 ml of a 0.1 M solution in EG) was added under strong magnetic stirring followed by adjusting the solution pH up to 11 with dropwise addition of 1 M NaOH EG solution. After stirring for an additional 10 min, 4 ml of 0.5 M NaBH4 EG solution was quickly added into the flask. In the first few minutes, the deep blue solution gradually became colorless, and then it turned burgundy, suggestive of the formation of a copper colloid. Why don't you buy nanomaterials ready-to-use? You would also avoid any problems related to reproducibility...
You are very right Dr Sharma. At best one can compare home-made nano-stuff with commercial samples
if easily available. There are cases where even the latter need to be checked out!
