It really depends on whether your spectrophotometer gathers the scattered light in the same way as any of the standard methods for measurement of turbidity (I am not familiar with those).  Scattering angles depend on particle size so the geometry of capture is vital. A similar problem exists in the measurement of scattered light as large angle and small angle scatter.  We can and do use our Cary 5000 to make ASTM D1003 haze measurements and they are pretty consistent with our haze meters for the samples we deal with.

Yes turbidity of solution can be determined by using spectrophotoneter using various observations.one of which is the use of thymol rest.The pdf and link is attached herewith for ur quick reference.

Turbidity meter is general.  Spectrometer specifies a lambda wavelength for specific substance in question
